This Artificial Intelligence Policy (“AI Policy”) governs the use of AI-powered features, machine learning tools, and automated content generation capabilities (collectively, “AI Features”) within the Detail Companion platform. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.

By using any AI Features within Detail Companion (e.g., the AI Marketing Assistant, automated route optimization, or Smart Replies), you agree to the terms below.

1. Scope of AI Features

Detail Companion integrates various AI technologies to enhance your business efficiency. These features may include, but are not limited to:

  • Generative Text: Drafting marketing emails, SMS responses, social media captions, and service descriptions.

  • Image Analysis: Scanning vehicle photos to suggest service tags or identify potential damage.

  • Predictive Scheduling: Algorithms that optimize appointment slots and travel routes.

  • Chatbots/Virtual Assistants: Automated responses to your customers’ inquiries.

2. Your Data and AI Training

A. Input and Output

  • Input: Data, text, prompts, or images you submit to the AI Features are “Input.”

  • Output: The content, text, or suggestions generated by the AI Features are “Output.”

  • Ownership: As between you and Detail Companion, you retain ownership of your Input. Subject to your compliance with this Policy, you own the Output generated for your account.

B. Data Usage for Training

  • Our Models: We may use anonymized, aggregated data to train and improve our internal proprietary models (e.g., improving our route optimization algorithm based on traffic patterns).

  • Third-Party Models: We utilize third-party Large Language Models (LLMs) (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock). We configure these services so that your specific business data is NOT used to train their public models. Your proprietary data remains isolated and is not shared with the general public or your competitors.

3. Human-in-the-Loop Requirement

AI is experimental and prone to errors. Generative AI models can produce "hallucinations" (factually incorrect information) or biased content.

  • Review Required: You acknowledge that you must review and verify all AI-generated Output before using it, sending it to customers, or publishing it.

  • Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the content you distribute. For example, if the AI Marketing Assistant generates a discount code that you did not intend to offer, or makes a false claim about a ceramic coating warranty, you are liable for honoring that content, not Detail Companion.

4. Third-Party AI Providers

Detail Companion integrates with third-party providers to deliver AI capabilities. By using these features, you acknowledge that your Input may be processed by these third-party vendors.

  • We vet our AI vendors for security and privacy compliance (SOC 2, GDPR).

  • However, we cannot guarantee the continuous availability of third-party models. If a provider (e.g., OpenAI) experiences downtime, Detail Companion’s AI Features may be temporarily unavailable.

5. Prohibited Uses of AI

You agree not to use Detail Companion’s AI Features to:

  • Generate Illegal Content: Create content that promotes illegal acts, violence, self-harm, or discrimination.

  • Infringe Rights: Generate content that violates the intellectual property or privacy rights of third parties.

  • Deceive: Use AI to generate fake reviews, testimonials, or misleading medical/legal advice.

  • Reverse Engineer: Attempt to discover the underlying models, weights, or algorithms (including "prompt injection" attacks) of the AI Features.

  • Automated Decision Making: Use the AI for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on individuals (e.g., employment screening) without human intervention.

6. Transparency with Your Customers (End Users)

Laws regarding AI transparency are evolving rapidly.

  • Disclosure: If you use Detail Companion’s AI features to interact directly with your customers (e.g., an AI Chatbot on your booking page), you agree to disclose to your customers that they are interacting with an AI, where required by law (e.g., the California Boltering Act).

  • Consent: You represent that you have obtained all necessary consents/rights to submit your customers' data (such as vehicle photos or chat logs) into the AI Features.

7. Intellectual Property of AI Output

The legal landscape regarding copyright of AI-generated content is complex and varies by jurisdiction.

  • No Guarantee of Copyright: Detail Companion makes no warranty that AI-generated Output is copyrightable. (e.g., Currently, the US Copyright Office generally does not grant copyright protection to purely AI-generated art or text).

  • License: You grant Detail Companion a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and display the Input and Output as reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE AI FEATURES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.

DETAIL COMPANION DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, UNIQUE, RELIABLE, OR FREE FROM ERRORS. WE DISCLAIM ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED ADVICE, CODE, MARKETING COPY, OR SCHEDULES.

9. Changes to AI Features

We are constantly improving our AI capabilities. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or deprecate any AI Feature at any time. We may also implement usage limits (e.g., a cap on the number of AI-generated emails per month) to prevent abuse and manage costs.
